Well it’s been a mixed bag for Ladygate in the 2nd stages of most National Championship Competitions.
In the top Club Ladygate went down 2-3 at Brentham which was a disappointing result.
In the double fours, however, we overcame Rosedale and now travel to Ashford on the 20thJune in the area Semi.
In the Men’s Champion of Champions Chris Harris got Rosedale’d as he lost to Jack Fisher over there.
In the National Mixed Fours Paul Reynolds conceded his tie to Jason Rowlands and that ended Ladygate’s interest in that Competition.
In the mixed Pairs Tony Waller and Rose Mayo from Rosedale travelled to Uxbridge to face Nina Klimentjeva and Atillio Ciampini. A dominant performance from Rose saw them progress comfortably. With Rose on holiday Mandy Simpson came out of self imposed retirement for the next round away to Lyn Andrews and Alan Keane of Harefield. Again it was a comfortable evenings work as they progressed. Now it’s the Area Semi Final and a trip to Bush Hill Park to face Sue Apperly.
In the Men’s Over 55 Pairs John Ruffell and Dave Clemens were victorious in their trip to Pinner, they now host Ciampini and Pitt who knocked out Kevin Dwyer and Steve Skinner.
In the over 55 Singles Kevin Dwyer beat Paul Collier and now has to travel to Uxbridge to face that man Ciampini.
Finally in the London & Southern Counties comps it’s been a rough ride with a disappointing defeat to Iver Heath in the Shield and a loss for Chris Harris in the Gold Badge, also to Iver!
So a few chances of National Glory remain, can those left make it to Leamington?
